Your heart is an apple.

You bite. You chew. You bite. You slice.

You re-slice. You bite. You chew.

And you bite again.

This project focuses on the various aftertastes relationships leave in our mouths. Our heads. Our hearts. Inspired from Michel Gondrie’s movie Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, in which the main character receives clinical surgery that erases all memories from his past relationship and allows him to move on with his life, Mandoline Hybride questions our tendency to say “I am over it”, “it is far behind”, “I am done with it”, “I start fresh”, etc. Contrary to the ones in Michel Gondrie’s film, Mandoline Hybride’s characters try to deal with the remains, the leftovers, and the aftertaste of their relationships, instead of erasing all of it.
