Reading, working and socializing
Thanks to a partnership with the Montreal feminist bookstore L’Euguélionne, about twenty titles (novels, poetry, essays, comics, children’s literature) will be permanently on sale at L’Hybride, including several recent publications! This service will be complementary to the Mariette-Lever library which is still in operation at the Marsoui municipal building. L’Euguélionne’s selection will allow clients to make interesting discoveries, to buy books on the spot or to order them directly from the bookstore of their choice afterwards. What could be better than reading by the sea with a good coffee!
With high speed internet access, L’Hybride will be able to accommodate artists or autonomous workers for long days of work at the computer. A printer with a photocopier and a scanner will also be available to clients. It will be possible to pay a monetary contribution to occupy the place all day long, or to consume something while working, in order to value the spaces and services offered by Mandoline Hybride.
L’Hybride is also a social space for different types of people. Thus, there are many board games, card games, coloring books and toys for children. A relaxation area with carpets and cushions is also available.
A bit of history
If the old chalet-restaurant in Marsoui has been home to dynamic businesses for several years (notably the very warm Café du parc managed by Ludien Tardif, now retired), this municipal space had been vacant for more than a year when Mandoline Hybride decided to make it its headquarters last July for the duration of the 3rd edition of FURIES – contemporary dance festival in Marsoui. Given the success of the concept, which offered small dishes to eat on site or to take away, as well as a selection of handpicked books, the organization based in Marsoui since 2018 decided to occupy the place year round! In a village like Marsoui, the need for a gathering place and a restaurant offer was glaring, especially with the closing of the village snack bar, usually a staple of the summer season.
