Initially scheduled for 2020 and postponed to July 2021 due to the pandemic, this second edition seals the arrival of S\u00e9bastien Provencher as co-artistic director of the festival.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-3733\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mandolinehybride.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Photo-Catherine-Legault-Le-Devoir.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"383\" height=\"322\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>Cultivating curiosity, the spirit of experimentation and joy<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is through highly contrasting programming that FURIES will make its second appearance in the Marsoui countryside. The festival focuses on daring choreographic forms and human-scale encounters. Audiences will discover dance as an art form with endless possibilities and will broaden their knowledge of different styles and techniques. It will be of special interest to focus on the voices that shake up conventions with surprising proposals through intimate and warm contexts. Ultimately, it is through the strength of the community and the joy of gathering together that FURIES will enter the summer season. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Photo: Catherine Legault | Le Devoir, 2019)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wolastoqey and Quebec choreographer<\/span><b> Ivanie Aubin-Malo<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will present her solo <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mula <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and meet the public during a casual artist-talk. <\/span><b>Collectif l\u2019indiscipline <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">based in Haute-Gasp\u00e9sie will offer a video-performance on issues related to queer identity in rural areas. Artist and curator <\/span><b>Andrew Tay<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> offers a powerful journey through a wild and luminous, queer artistic voice in the piece <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fame Prayer \/ EATING<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> co-created with <\/span><b>Fran\u00e7ois Lalumi\u00e8re<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>Katarzyna Szugajew<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Art in situ will certainly be a highlight, and will showcase must-see places in Marsoui and the surrounding area. Choreographer <\/span><b>Caroline Laurin-Beaucage<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will perform <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Habiter sa M\u00e9moire<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at Henley Beach in Marsoui, as well as at La Chapelle du Cap, a promising first collaboration with the La Chapelle committee. The duo composed of<\/span><b> Deanna Peters <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Vancouver)<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><b>Emma-Kate Guimond <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Montreal) will present <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Char\u00e9graphie<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a dance for two cars which will come to life in an unrevealed, secret outdoor location. The Mi&#8217;kmaq artist from Gasgapegiag <\/span><b>Darlene Gijuminag<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will offer a solo, outdoor performance of song and music, accompanied by the sound of the Marsoui River. Gaspesian artist Maryse Goudreault will present her installation, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dans le ventre de la baleine<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">facing the sea. Finally, for a small audience, two group pieces will be presented in the privacy of Marsoui\u2019s Recreational Center: <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Memory Palace<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a refined and playful piece by <\/span><b>Dorian Nuskind-Oder,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as well as <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Un temps pour tout<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, an irresistible foray into the hip-hop universe guided by <\/span><b>Sovann Rochon-Prom Tep. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For many artists in the lineup, it will be a return to performance after more than a year of hiatus. In collaboration with the artistic direction of the festival, each artist has also considered different scenarios for their work to be adapted within the context of the pandemic. Doing so in order to be able to respect the multiple public health measures that may still be in place during the summer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Satellite activities<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Alongside this abundant programming, the public will enjoy a screening under the stars at Salon58 and will have access to four dance workshops: <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">breaking<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with<\/span><b> Sovann Rochon-Prom Tep<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">contemporary dance <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">with<\/span><b> Melina Stinson<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> introduction to house dance<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with <\/span><b>Deanna Peters<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the exploration workshop <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Practice Party<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with <\/span><b>Andrew Tay<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The artist from Cap-au-Renard <\/span><b>St\u00e9phane Maddix Albert<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will offer a moment of storytelling at the end of a guided walk, and every morning, the jack of all trades, <\/span><b>Marlene Sohier<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from Marsoui, will lead Qigong-inspired workshops at Parc Alphonse-Couturier.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Ticket office and reservations<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Starting the end of May, the public will be able to reserve seats for shows presented indoors to a small audience, as well as for workshops. In a spirit of friendly collaboration, you might stumble upon a few dance steps on Saturday July 31 on the site of the Festival du Bois flott\u00e9, echoing FURIES. We are joyful that Haute-Gasp\u00e9sie is so artistically dynamic, to the delight of our audiences.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>FURIES partners<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This second edition is supported by a set of local and national partners who come to breathe new life into this, still new initiative in the Gasp\u00e9 region.
